Free World (Poem a day challenge 11/23/15)

We call ourselves the free World but are we really free?

People trying to determine our religion and who we should be

The World's events are out of hand from a small group that are acting crazy and are lost

Now we are forced to take a stand but tell me honestly at what cost?

Tell me are you the one in charge of how the world turns?

With 7.6 billion on the planet what should our children learn?

When fear takes over people can act in a confusing way

Survival of the fittest and throwing other human beings away

We have food and shelter. remember the meek shall inherit the earth

You stand there on your soap box telling others what they are worth

If you were in a war zone or had no shoes on your feet

You would Hope, Wish and Pray that empathy and compassion you would meet

Before we are lost forever, let us truly be free

And embrace your fellow humans with love and not be so greedy

With our resources, with our time, with our willingness to embrace

There is enough on earth for everyone regardless of religion, gender or race

When you look in the mirror ask yourself "am I free?"

"Am I allowing the media hype, the extremist and my fear rule me?"

The fight or flight reaction for those under attack

will never equate to spreading Hatred or "Getting them back"

War is not the answer! It stokes the fire and no one wins

Let's set down the eye for an eye thinking and let PEACE begin.
